Product Review

Got to try out a couple new products this week, so I'm here to give you the scoop on Nars The Multiple in Orgasm, and Laura Mercier baked eyeshadow in Ballet Pink.

Nars The Multiple :

Purchase at Sephora, Or any NARS counter in The Bay.
$39

The Multiple is a multi purpose makeup stick. Its a cream to powder so it isn't necessary to set it.
You can use this stick on your eyes, lips, cheeks and body. It's available in a variety of shades.

The shade I'm reviewing is called Orgasm, it's a peachy pink shimmer that goes really well with fair skinned girls.

When I swiped this on my hand to swatch the color it went on beautifully smooth and creamy, but then as promised dried to a powder. I'm pretty impressed with the formula. You can wear this on its own on your cheeks, or put it on top of your foundation and powder. If you are using this as blush, I recommend using one of macs stippling brushes, the 131 works perfectly for this because of its small dense shape, swipe the brush against the stick and then stipple on the color with your brush. Small circles work best. Place the color where you want it, then use a kabuki brush and your face powder and buff away the edges of your blush to make it a nice seamless finish. You can use this as eyeshadow as well, just make sure you have a good eyeshadow primer on first. Its an option to use this as lipstick as well, though I haven't tried that yet, it being a cream to powder I don't see it lasting too well on the lip area, but maybe with a gloss on top. I don't recommend just using the stick on your face, that deposits quite a bit of color and it can be hard to work with. All in all I'm liking this product and think I'll be checking out some other shades!

Laura Mercier Baked Eyeshadow:

Purchase at Sephora or any Laura Mercier counter.

$22.

This is a baked eyeshadow that can be used wet or dry. It's very similar to MAC's mineralize eye shadows. Use it dry for a nice wash of color, or wet for a more vibrant intensity.
The shade I have is called Ballet Pink which is described as a pale peach pink but in all honesty to me it looks more like a champagne color. Its a beautiful highlight color, on both eyes and cheeks. You get a fair bit for the price and it comes in a variety of shades. This is my first Laura Mercier product and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It blends smoothly and has minimal fallout. Fine shimmer, not glittery. Great for a day at the office, or a night out. :)

Mac Pro Haul

Well.. mini haul. I was downtown so I couldn't resist running into the mac pro store on queen street. For those of you who don't know, MAC has two kinds of stores. Regular and Pro. The pro stores sell a lot more stuff and offer colors and products that the regular stores don't. They are more industry aimed so its really good for professional makeup artists to go there, but anyone can go and buy whatever they want. Anyways. Here's what I got.

Pencil in 'pinkie'. (clearly I grabbed this for the name, but the fact that its neon pink doesn't hurt either)
Chromagraphic pencil in nc15/nw20
Lash mixing medium
Studio fix foundation powder
Lipstick in 'violetta'

These are all only offered at mac pro locations, except for the foundation.

The pencil in Pinkie is a neon electric pink color, and can be used as eyeliner, or lip liner. I've been loving it under my lipsticks.

The chromagraphic pencil is a skin tone color. I picked the lighter of the two they offer because I'm fair skinned. You can use this to line your waterline (it opens up your eyes and finishes off the look, but isn't as harsh as white eyeliner is) Use it as a concealer over blemishes, and my favorite thing to do is outline your lip shape with it. It helps keep the lipstick from feathering and also strengthens your lip shape to make your lips look stronger and more finished. Also when you use this on your cupids bow it really helps make your lips look plump and fuller.

The lash mixing medium is basically a formula in a little tube that you can use to mix with pigments (loose eyeshadow) and glitters and turn them into like a paste. So you can use that as either eyeshadow all over your eye, or as a liner. For example instead of dipping my brush in glitter and patting it onto my eye lid, which would cause the glitter to go EVERYWHERE and only some of it would stay on the lid, you brush this stuff all over your lid first, and then pat the glitter on top of that.. its like a glue that grabs onto the glitter and makes it stay where its supposed to. Also intensifies the color of pigments.

The lipstick in Violetta is one I've lusted after for awhile. Its a deep purple with shimmer. Not for the faint of heart on its own, but you can mix it with other lipsticks and glosses to make it more wearable. I will be wearing it on its own clearly lol.

The foundation isn't anything particularly exciting, just needed to pick it up. Its a powder foundation, great for oily skin, but it tends to go a bit light, I'm a nc15 in liquid foundation but had to pick up a nc20 in this.

Here's a picture of it all, and then some swatches of the liners and lipstick for you.
Any questions ask away!

Wonder Woman

Today I got my MAC order in the mail. Those guys are FAST! I just ordered 2 nights ago!
I got two things from their new wonderwoman collection that launches in stores feb 10.
I was kinda underwhelmed by this collection and the swatches I looked at.
I did end up getting Athenas Kiss lipglass and Amazon Princess blush. The lipglass is oversized, it has 0.37oz instead of the usual 0.17oz. The price is of course increased, the wonder woman lipglasses go for  $24 instead of  $17.50. They are so jumbo! I felt a little silly applying lipgloss with the giant wand haha.
Athenas Kiss is described as a bright blue fuchsia. Its gorgeous and right up my alley. It has slight shimmer in it as well, and is gorgeous applied on top of lipstick.

Amazon Princess blush comes in a cute wonder woman compact with a mirror. It has two parts, a bright pink and a deep blue pink, both have very slight gold shimmer. This is 0.43oz and goes for $29. I'm a sucker for a hot pink so I couldnt resist.

I might pick up the pink/purple lipstick called Spitfire later on, but the two products I got were the only MUST HAVES for myself. Gotta save money for the 400 other collections MAC will release this year! lol.

Heres some pics and swatches, I'll be using these products and posting full looks later this week.
Enjoy!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tars

OCC is a new makeup brand I'm getting into.
I'm starting with their 'lip tars' because I've heard nothing but good things.
I got 3 to start. Memento, Pageant and Anime.
They come in little tubes, 8ml, and cost $13us. I ordered off the website: http://www.occmakeup.com/lips.html

They have TONS of colors, and these are also meant to be mixed. Haven't played with the mixing yet but I'm sure I will. These are kind of like a lipstick/lipstain/lipgloss hybrid. They go on super wet but then dry to a satin finish. Not sticky like mac's lipglasses. You really only need a TINY bit because it will go a long way, and it is better to apply with a lip brush for precise application. If you get too much of this or put it in the wrong place it can get messy quick. These also stain your lips a little bit so even when it does wear off hours later, your lips still have some color! Looking forward to playing with these, and I'll post pictures of looks using them. For now, here's some swatches, and a pros-cons list.

Pros:
lasts a long time
stains lips a little
little amount goes a long way
lots of color options
mixing colors gives you endless possibilities

Cons:
kinda runny/messy
difficult to take off, MUST use makeup remover
if they sit for awhile they can separate, and its a little annoying trying to remix.
